“Honey in the Rock”

Have you listened to the worship song “Honey in the Rock” written by Brooke Ligertwood?  I heard this song for the first time in January as I stood in a room with more than 2000 children’s pastors.

Since about October, I have had a constant refrain in my mind - “My shepherd being Yahweh, I don’t lack.” This line from Psalm 23 has been on repeat nearly daily as I have pondered decisions, finances, my children, church, friends, etc, etc.  This one line continues to pull my focus back to my good shepherd when I want to shoulder everything on my own.

As I stood in that room full of men and women, all of whom had set aside three days to find encouragement, refreshment, creativity, wonder, friendship, and hope, we sang these words together.

There's honey in the rock, water in the stone
Manna on the ground, no matter where I go
I don't need to worry now that I know
Everything I need You've got

There's honey in the rock, purpose in Your plan
Power in the blood, healing in Your hands
Started flowing when You said it is done
Everything You did's enough

I keep looking, I keep finding
You keep giving, keep providing
I have all that I need
You are all that I need

I keep praying, You keep moving
I keep praising, You keep proving
I have all that I need
You are all that I need

Today I want to invite you to listen to this song and remember that Your shepherd is Yahweh - you don't lack.  In the midst of every decision, in the middle of every storm, during every high and every low Yahweh is with us and knows what we need even before we do.  May we rest knowing that in him we have all that we need.
